We've also improved the software when run on Windows 7 64-bit systems and the USB driver installation (if required) is now fully automatic (if you're connected to the Internet).
The display engine waveform rendering has been improved and Windows 8 systems now rival the Mac OSX and Linux platforms for waveform display resolution and quality.
Numerous bugs have also been fixed (see the change log in the download packages) so download the updates if you're running a new Windows 8 or Windows 7 64-bit system!
This new version adds many features and optimizations so to get you started we have published a new DSO User Guide.
It explains how display focus works to view and scroll waveforms, how display cursors can be used for waveform measurements and how to use tracking and assignment for input offsets, trigger level and time focus.
This means you can now run these applications on 64-bit Linux systems without the need for multi-architecture libraries and on both Windows and Linux the apps benefit from faster 64-bit execution.
This change is made possible with the release of the new BitScope Library which is also 64-bit native. We will soon have 64-bit updates for our other apps including BitScope Chart and BitScope Meter to take advantage of 64-bit operation as well.
The new library also makes Pocket Analyzer available to programmers for the first time. It's now possible to write your own apps or adapt third party software for use with this very popular model.

It provides faster capture, reliable USB and network connectivity and compatibility with every BitScope model from the latest Pocket Analyzers to older models released over the past 10 years including BS50, BS310 and BS300.
These applications are compatible with Windows and Linux with Mac OSX compatibility coming soon. Also coming soon is a new HAL based API designed to allow BitScope Pocket Analyzer to be used in customised test, measurement and data acquisition applications. More news later this month.
BitScope Pocket Analyzer is a unique new test instrument combining a powerful Mixed Signal Oscilloscope, Protocol Analyzer, Waveform and Clock Generator, Spectrum Analyzer and Data Recorder in one tiny USB powered device.
It offers 10 capture channels (2 analog + 8 digital) with 100 MHz analog bandwidth, 40 MSps logic speed and up to 12 bits analog resolution as well several output channels for its signal generators, triggers and external control signals.

BitScope DSO now has support for Intel Macs running the latest version of OS X (10.7, Lion).
It's the full DSO application targeted for Macintosh as a native app and it brings the latest features to the Windows and Linux platforms as well.
DSO now supports real-time parameter updates, high speed live digital phosphor displays, cursor bands and highlights and a new macro mode for high resolution capture on supported devices.
It also adds quick display export, colour coded logic the same as BitScope Logic and many bug fixes and improvements.
DSO 2.5 is currently in beta release but it's compatible with all new BitScopes and should also work with older models including BS50, BS300, and BS310. BitScope Logic is a brand new mixed signal logic and serial protocol analyzer for BitScope.
It uses BitScope's built in logic analyzer and performs multi-channel protocol analysis of SPI, I2C, CAN & UART encoded signals.
High speed logic analysis across all channels is supported and because it's a BitScope app, it can capture up to 4 analog channels as well.
Logic decodes eight channels in two protocol groups simultaneously and shows them next to the waveforms for easy timing analysis.
The sequence of decoded data packets on selected channels are shown via a packet inspector for comprehensive data analysis.
The auto-ranging analog channels are shown time aligned with logic waveforms & packets allowing sophisticated mixed signal diagnostic work to assist debugging complex systems.

Network BitScope 445 is a rack mountable 4 + 8 channel mixed signal data acquisition system.
Also available in a robust stand-alone desktop case this new BitScope offers the same comprehensive set of test & measurement functions as all our other BitScope models.
However, we've optimized this one specifically for remote data acquisition and process monitoring applications with a focus on high speed mixed signal data acquisition and IP network connected access. With 4 analog channel and 8 logic timing channels, all of which may be used to capture data concurrently, it provides the ideal basis for industrial monitoring systems.
BS445 can acquire buffered framed captured data at a combined data rate of up to 200MB/s or it can stream data at lower rates continuosly. It uses standard IP networking for universal connectivity and is compatible with all BitScope test, measurement data acquisition software. BitScope Chart is a new waveform data logger and chart recorder application for BitScope.
Chart calculates waveform statistics including DC and AC voltages, frequencies and periods from the signals appearing on the BitScope's inputs and plots them in real-time.
It can also save the statistics and samples of the waveforms to disk for later analysis.
Chart leverages the very high bandwidth of BitScope so it can work with RF signals just as easily as slow changing DC trends.
Whether monitoring the output power of a radio transmitter or the temperature cycle of a multi-circuit airconditioner, Chart is ideal.
Chart is highly automated and easy to use and like BitScope Meter it has advanced manual controls for those applications where fine tuning the way in which the data is captured, analyzed and recorded may be required.
It extends BitLib to unlock the powerful waveform generator features of BS120.
A BitGen Control Panel is included to start using BitGen out of the box to create analog or digital waveforms, data sequences, clock signals, noise, timing events and more.

Designed to be used stand-alone or as a partner application for BitScope DSO, WaveMeter is a fast and easy to use AC/DC voltmeter and auto-locking frequency meter with a built-in oscilloscope for live waveform display.
Simply connect a signal and WaveMeter will lock on and display the waveform while simultaneously reporting the frequency, Peak, RMS, Min/Max and DC voltages.
The waveform display is auto-triggered and voltage and time scaling auto-ranging. There is rarely any need to adjust any parameters to use it effectively.
Any of the measured parameters may be selected with a single click to view on a large parameter display.
WaveMeter comes with a user editable online help system and is available in two streams.

Where did BitScope come from ?

BitScope has evolved a long way since 1998 but all BitScopes are still based on the same Analog + Digital concept of the original design.
Released as kits, BitScope BS220 and BS300 became very popular with electronics enthusiasts the world over. We have since been forced to discontinue the kits as some through-hole parts used are obsolete.
Now all models are available as manufactured products but the core design at the heart of all these BitScopes remains the same and is published at this website.
Likewise the BitScope Virtual Machine programming API is explained and its specifications published so anyone can write software for BitScope or build their own add-on modules.
Still not sure what BitScope is ? BitScope is a built and tested (and previously build it yourself DIY), open design, digital storage oscilloscope and logic analyzer (also, digital sampling oscilloscope, mixed signal oscilloscope, DSO) based on the MicroChip PIC which can be used as a PC oscilloscope, multi-purpose portable test instrument, or networked remote data acquisition device (ie DAQ), that uses open source software and commercial software for Windows, Linux and Macintosh with drivers for numerical analysis tools such as Mathworks MatLab or National Instruments LabVIEW that connects to your PC via ethernet (using UDP/IP) or USB (or RS-232 in older models).
