This model has been superceded.

We continue to support it with BitScope DSO and the library but it is no longer available for purchase. We recommend one of our new models.

BitScope Model 100 Advertizement

Isolated USB Mixed Signal Scope

BS100 is a high performance isolated USB Mixed Signal Oscilloscope designed for use with a PC or notebook.

Key features:

BS100 combines a dual channel digital storage oscilloscope, 8 channel logic analyzer and DSP waveform generator option with a real-time spectrum analyzer and data recorder in one small unit, fully opto-isolated from the PC to which it is connected.

It is an ideal general purpose scope for many analog, digital and mixed signal applications.

Opto-Isolated USB

Unique among USB scopes, BS100 is opto-isolated decoupling it from your PC.

It is powered independently and can be referenced to a ground potential different to the PC's ground.

Drop-outs due to ground-loops across the USB connection or USB glitches in difficult test and measurement situations are never a problem.

In the same way as a Network BitScope, BS100 gives you the freedom to work in electrically noisy environments such as automotive shops or with high power machinery or in applications where a common ground for both your circuit and the PC may simply be impossible to find.

Low Power, Elegant Design

BS100 has 4 analog inputs feeding 2 capture channels and another 8 concurrent logic channels.

It includes an adjustable external trigger input, a calibration output and low power and standby operating modes for extended use on battery power.

Because its quiescent current is measured in microamps it doesn't even need a power switch, simply plug it in and leave it connected.

Two BNC connectors access the analog channels and BitGen DSP waveform and timing generator.

The 26-way Smart Port connector provides access to the other two analog inputs as well as the 8 logic inputs, power, ground, serial I/O and the BitGen WavePort.

Capture LEDs in channel colors (yellow, green and blue) on the front panel provide instant visual feedback and USB, data and power LEDs on the back indicate power and PC connection status.

Next to the Smart Port connector at the front is an external trigger input, ground reference, probe calibration and BitGen TimePort, and at the back the 12VDC power socket and USB connector.

Powerful Software Solutions

Included with BS100 is BitScope DSO, BitScope's powerful test and measurement software.

When first powered on it presents a familiar dual channel digital oscilloscope display.

However there's much more to it than that.

Virtual Instrument and split screen display buttons down the right side allow you you to select from an array of integrated test instruments.

These include a mixed signal and digital storage scope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer, X-Y phase plotter and an integrated data recorder.

Whether you're looking at waveforms down at audio frequencies or analyzing clock edges at the high speed of microcontroller and digital logic circuits, DSO and BS100 meet the challenge

And of course you can select the mixed signal or logic capture modes to analyze logic state transitions and timing or choose the spectrum analyzer to display waveforms and their spectra together, and all in real-time with display refresh rates as high as 50Hz.

Analog Probes

BS100 is compatible with industry standard oscilloscope probes.

BitScope Analog Probes (BS100)

The BitScope PRB-01 (pictured left) is the best choice for general low voltage work.

If offers switchable x1 and x10 attenuation, includes a full accessory kit and has a 100 MHz bandwidth to match the BS100 itself.

Other choices are available such as the x100 attenuating PRB-02 designed for working with higher voltages (600 V) or when an extremely high input impedance is required (100M ohm).

Of course if you already have standard 100 MHz ocilloscope probes they will work with BS100 which is why probes are optional when buying BitScope.

Logic Probes & Expansion

Like all BitScopes, BS100 has a Smart Port expansion connector on the front panel.
This is where you can connect high speed buffered logic probes such as LP103W.

BitScope Logic Probes (BS100)

Design for use with TTL, 3.3V and 5V CMOS logic, these probes also provide test clip access to the two additional analog inputs provided on BS100's connector.

Of course the POD connector is not just for connecting logic probes. It can also be used for special function and software controlled signal processing modules such as waveform generators, RF convertors and probes.

The key to this capability is the POD connector's power, ground and serial I/O pins.

This makes it possible to connect your own circuits to BS100 with the BitScope providing power, serial control and data capture for your own circuits.

Library Apps & Programming

BS100 is user programmable and software extendable making it ideal for use in customised Data Acquistion and Test & Measurement applications.

BitScope Programming Library

The BitLib Application Programming Library allows you to take advantage of BS100's powerful mixed mode waveform and logic data capture capabilities using several different programming languages and numerical analysis environments.

This free library is available for Windows and Linux platforms and comes with some example applications to get you started.

Because BitLib is DLL based you can use it to integrate BS100 with third-party numerical analysis and data acquisitions systems such as MathWorks' MatLab and National Instruments' LabVIEW.

Alternatively you can write your own with tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio or Borland Delphi. And open source options are also supported with bindings for many programming languages.
